Pakistan Armed Forces launched ‘Zarb-e-Azb‘ operation in North Waziristan (troubled tribal areas which is responsible for most of the attacks in Pakistan, etc). I am anti-war but I do support Pakistan’s Army operation in eliminating such dreadful threats not just for Pakistanis, foreigners but most of for peace and humans. I wish Pakistan Army best of luck.
The consequences of this operation can be devastating because those terrorists may take revenge (they always do) – It’s scary. We are having such tight security in our area and around. Roads jammed near the check posts, rabid checking and questioning.
I’d also like to make a point that drone attacks were/are also what Pakistani Army is going to do now in those areas but the reaction from the public was different. I’m in favour of drone attacks because they have been very successful in eliminating threats in Pakistan; despite people here believe US dozen attacks were violating Pakistan sovereignty but drones were doing what Pakistani Army should have done a long time ago so that we wouldn’t have lost so many innocents people around the world. Some people here also claim that drones have killed innocent ones too but I think when wars, conflicts or fights arises; always such thing happens. The wet wood always gets burned with the dry ones. Also, drones have killed way less innocent ones than those terrorists killed in Pakistan which are a total of 49,000 innocent Pakistanis killed between September 11, 2001 and May 2013. The annual death toll from terrorist attacks has risen from 164 in 2003 to 3318 in 2009; and it continues to grow. Compare to An estimated 286 to 890 unarmed civilians who have been killed in drone attacks; the number of causalities is still debatable but they did succeed to kill 2,291 extremists. On the other side according to the government of Pakistan, the direct and indirect economic costs of terrorism from 2000–2010 total $68 billion.
People now supporting the Pakistan Army’s operating but disapproving US drone is very questionable to me. I do know there’d be lose of some innocent ones as well during the Pakistan Army’s operation in North Waziristan.
It’s like when you do something yourself; it’s always right but when someone else does the same thing, it’s wrong. How ironic.
After all, we need know that war on terrorism is not a national issue but an international issue.
